Privacy, terms and disclaimers

How Finex handles information and what you should know before using it. Last updated: October 21, 2026.

Finex is a free financial education website (financefinex.com): market news, tools, lessons and the FinexAI assistant. This page explains what data we collect, why, and your rights.

Scope and acceptance

Finex is an independent educational publication about personal finance, financial markets and the economy. This page explains how the website handles information and the terms that apply to its use. By using Finex, you accept these terms. If you do not agree with them, please stop using the site.

No financial advice

Content on Finex is general information published for educational purposes. It is not personalized investment, tax, legal or accounting advice, and using the site does not create an advisory relationship. Finex is not registered as a dealer, advisor or investment fund manager with any Canadian provincial or territorial securities regulator, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, or any U.S. state regulator, and it does not offer registered services. Consult a qualified, registered professional before making decisions about your money.

Investment and crypto risk

All investments carry risk, including the loss of the full amount invested. Past performance does not guarantee future results. Crypto assets are highly volatile, may be unregulated or only partly regulated in Canada and the United States, are not covered by deposit insurance such as CDIC or the FDIC, and are frequent targets of fraud. Only consider money you can afford to lose.

Accuracy of data and news

Prices, figures and news summaries are provided for information only and may be delayed, incomplete or inaccurate. They come from third parties, including CoinGecko, Coinbase, Binance, Twelve Data, Finnhub and the publishers linked on each story, and are offered as is. Verify any information with an official source before acting on it. News items are summarized in original wording with a link to the publisher. All rights in the original articles belong to their owners, and company names and trademarks are used for identification only, without endorsement.

Information we collect

You can use most of Finex without an account. If you create one, Finex stores your email address and the settings, alerts and watchlists you choose, encrypted (AES-256); passwords are never stored in readable form. If you subscribe or buy something, the payment is processed by Stripe: Finex never receives or stores your card number. Finex keeps a record of each order (product, amount, date, country for taxes) for accounting and tax obligations. Emails are sent through our email provider. Numbers you type in calculators stay on your device. Finex does not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. To count visits, Finex keeps anonymous statistics without cookies: the pages viewed, the website that sent you, your country and your type of device. Your IP address is not stored: a visit is counted with a code that changes every day and can't identify you. Cloudflare, which hosts Finex, may also count visits the same way. You can export or delete your account at any time from Account → Privacy.

Third-party services

To operate, the site loads fonts from Google Fonts and, when live prices are enabled, requests market data from CoinGecko, Coinbase, Binance, Bybit, OKX, Bitget, Twelve Data and Finnhub. If you open TradingView mode on a chart, TradingView's chart is loaded from TradingView's servers inside an isolated frame that cannot read your Finex account, under TradingView's own privacy policy. When you open a source link, you leave Finex and the publisher's own policies apply. Our hosting provider and these services may process technical data such as your IP address, browser type and request time under their own privacy policies.

Newsletter and electronic messages

If Finex offers an email newsletter, it will be sent only with your consent, in line with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) and the U.S. CAN-SPAM Act. Each message will identify the sender and include a working unsubscribe link, and unsubscribe requests are honoured promptly. We do not sell or rent email addresses.

Your privacy rights and children

In Canada, you may have rights of access, correction, withdrawal of consent and complaint under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and provincial laws, including Quebec's Law 25. In the United States, residents of California and other states may have rights to know, correct and delete their information under laws such as the CCPA/CPRA. Finex does not sell or share personal information. To make a request, use the contact details published on the Finex website; we respond within 30 days. Finex is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect information from anyone under 14, nor from children under 13 as defined by COPPA.

If Finex ever receives compensation through advertising, sponsorships or affiliate links, it will be disclosed clearly next to the content concerned, in line with Competition Bureau Canada guidance and the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's Endorsement Guides. Some comparison pages, like the brokers and crypto platforms page, may contain partner links, which are labeled as such: if you open an account through one, Finex may receive a commission at no extra cost to you. Partners never pay to change their ranking or the facts shown. Finex publishes no other sponsored content.

Finex Premium subscription

Finex Premium is an optional subscription billed monthly or yearly through Stripe. It renews automatically until you cancel. You can cancel at any time in one click from the Premium page (Manage my subscription); you keep Premium until the end of the period already paid, and unused time is not refunded unless the law requires it. A free trial, when offered, is available once per account, and you are not charged if you cancel before it ends. The price and any taxes that apply where you live are shown before you pay. If the price changes, current subscribers are told by email at least 30 days ahead and can cancel before the change. Premium features are educational tools and can evolve; a main feature you pay for is not removed without notice. Deleting your Finex account cancels your subscription.

Digital products and refunds

Digital products (guides, templates, spreadsheets) are delivered right after payment: on the confirmation page, by email (a personal link valid 7 days for 5 downloads) and in Account → Purchases. They are licensed for your personal, non-commercial use only: sharing, reselling or publishing them is not allowed. All sales of digital products are final: because the file is delivered instantly and cannot be returned, a purchase is not refundable once the payment is complete. Before paying, you are asked to accept these terms and to confirm that delivery starts right away; where the law gives a withdrawal right for digital content (for example in the European Union or the United Kingdom), you agree that this right ends when delivery starts. This does not limit the rights that the law gives you and that cannot be waived: if a file is defective, does not match its description or was never delivered, or if you were charged twice by mistake, write to [email protected] and we will fix it, replace it or refund you. A refunded or disputed order stops its download links.

Payments and security

Payments are handled by Stripe, a PCI DSS Level 1 certified payment provider. Finex never sees your card number. Download links are personal and expire, and files are kept in private storage. Prices can be shown in different currencies; your bank may apply its own conversion fees. To report a security problem, write to [email protected].

Gift cards

Gift cards are one-time payments for 1 month or 1 year of Finex Premium. The code works once, never renews, has no cash value and cannot be exchanged for money. It is cancelled if the payment is refunded or disputed. A gift code cannot be added to an account that already pays for Premium.

Liability, governing law and updates

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Finex and its operator disclaim all warranties and are not liable for any direct or indirect loss resulting from the use of, or reliance on, this site. These terms are governed by the laws applicable in Canada, without regard to conflict-of-law rules; mandatory consumer or privacy rights that apply to you in your province, state or country are not affected. We may update this page from time to time, and continued use means you accept the current version.

Accounts and your data

If you create a free account, we store your email address, a protected hash of your password (never the password itself) and the settings you choose: display name, country, currency, watchlist, favourite tools, saved results, alerts and email preferences. Personal data is encrypted (AES-256) before it is stored, and only used to run your account. We keep a short security log (sign-ins and security changes, with the browser type) to protect you. You can download all your data or delete your account at any time from My account; deletion is immediate and permanent. We never sell your data.

Security

Passwords are salted, peppered and hashed; sessions use secure, HTTP-only cookies over HTTPS; sign-in attempts are rate-limited; two-step verification and passkeys are available. No system is perfectly secure, but we follow recognised best practices and will notify affected users and the authorities if a breach ever puts your information at risk.

Sign in with Apple

If you choose Continue with Apple, Apple tells us a unique identifier for your Apple account, your email address (your real one, or a private relay address if you chose Hide My Email) and, the first time only, your name. We store the identifier only as a one-way code, and the email and name encrypted, like any other account. We never receive your Apple password. You can stop using Sign in with Apple for Finex anytime in your Apple ID settings, and deleting your Finex account erases this link too.

Sign in with Google

If you choose Continue with Google, Google tells us a unique identifier for your Google account, your verified email address and your first name. We store the identifier only as a one-way code, and the email and name encrypted, like any other account. We never receive your Google password or access to your Google data (no Gmail, Drive or contacts). You can remove Finex anytime from the third-party apps in your Google Account, and deleting your Finex account erases this link too. Finex's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements: this information is used only to create and sign in to your Finex account, is never sold, never used for advertising and never shared except with the service providers that host the site.

Invite friends program

Each account gets a personal invite link. When 10 friends who signed up with your link have confirmed their email and used Finex on 3 different days within 30 days, you get 1 month of Finex Pro free, added automatically (up to 3 months per year); if you already pay for Finex Pro, the month is credited on your next bill instead. To keep it fair, we check that each friend is a different person: for invited accounts we store one-way codes (not the real values) of the device, the home network and the email address, and compare them with the inviter's. Accounts created by the same person, on the same device, with the same email or with throwaway emails do not count, and some invites may be reviewed by hand. Rewards gained by cheating can be removed. These codes are deleted with the account.

FinexAI

FinexAI is an AI assistant for members. It runs either on Claude from Anthropic or on an open AI model hosted on Cloudflare Workers AI; your messages are sent to that provider only to generate the answer (neither uses this data to train its models by default). Your conversation history is encrypted (AES-256) in our database; you can delete any conversation at any time, and deleting your account deletes them all. Answers can contain mistakes and are educational only, not financial advice.

Contact

Questions about this policy, your data or a request to access, correct or delete it: [email protected]. You can also delete your account yourself anytime in My account › Privacy, which erases your data.
